From the Principal

Welcome to the Philip Rogers School

A new school year, a new beginning!  The staff at Rogers School has been busy all summer preparing for the beginning of your school year!  I would like to thank the parents and guardians for their time, effort and cooperation during summer registration. Summer registration has already made a huge difference in the continuity of the beginning of the school year. We are committed to academic excellence and believe that all children can and will learn and grow at Rogers School.

Rogers prides itself on a child-friendly atmosphere and ability to meet the needs of all learners who walk through our doors.  An interactive, high quality education is provided to students in the areas of reading, mathematics, language arts, science and social studies.  In order to provide a well-rounded education, students also participate in physical education, music, computers and library classes.

The home/school partnership Rogers has developed makes educating children that much richer.  Parents take a very active role in their child’s school.  Parent volunteers, our Local School Council, our wonderful PTA and Friend of Rogers help keep this important connection between home and school active.

The Rogers staff is highly committed to providing students with a high quality education.  We score well on standardize tests but believe that continuous improvement of programs and curriculum help determine our goals.  As a result of our commitment to student achievement we have established the following goals:

Goal 1

We will increase student achievement by evaluating students’ data and providing intervention support to students in need of additional help in order to reach learning targets.

Goal 2

Create a learning-centered focus in which students will take an active role in their own learning and demonstrate respectful behavior throughout their school day.

Goal 3

We will continue to focus our attention on writing.

I am looking forward to working with you again this year.  Thank you in advance for your support.  I welcome you to become an active part of the Rogers School community.  Together we will make this a year to remember.

Sincerely,

Christine Jabbari

Principal
